2019 Summary

We invite you to read the letter of the President of the Polish-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce summarizing the last year of the Chamber’s activities and presenting its plans for 2020.

Ladies and Gentlemen – Members and Supporters of the Polish – Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce
the turn of the year is an opportunity to sum up and express gratitude, as well as to plan future activities.

Undoubtedly, the greatest thanks are due to you – the members of the Chamber who supported its establishment. Thanks to the commitment of the Founding Members, on 10 January 2019 we managed to formalise the activity of the Polish-Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and to start organisational work, including, among others, the development of the Chamber’s logotype together with a version for members, the launch of the website (www.plig.biz) and Social Media profiles (we are available on Facebook and on LinkedIn), as well as the preparation of the newsletter, which was sent to you for the first time in September this year.

Already in the first year we undertook to prepare several events actively supporting Polish-Luxembourg economic cooperation:

  • in May, together with the Embassy of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg-Polish Chamber of Commerce, we co-organized the conference “Roundtable on financing future economic growth in Luxembourg and Poland”;
  • in June members of the Chamber had an opportunity to participate in “Business meets Diplomacy” meeting in Warsaw;
  • In June, members of the Chamber had an opportunity to participate in “Business meets Diplomacy” meeting in Warsaw; in October, as part of the Space Resources Week initiative, we prepared a business breakfast entitled “Space Nation Lëtzebuergesch In October we joined the Space Resources Week initiative and prepared a business breakfast “Space Nation Lëtzebuerg – Luxembourg’s plans for the conquest of Outer Space”, where we hosted entrepreneurs from the space sector from Lower Silesia.

We closed the year by organizing an international conference devoted to Polish-Luxembourg cooperation in the space sector entitled “Luxembourg-Poland partnership in space business” with the participation of Mr. Etienne Schneider, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Luxembourg and Ms. Jadwiga Emilewicz, Minister of Development. It was also an opportunity to sign a cooperation agreement with the Luxembourg-Poland Chamber of Commerce, which gives the members of our Chamber new possibilities to reach potential contractors directly on the Luxembourg market.

The year 2019 was therefore a time of intensive work. We are pleased with the positive signals from your side, as well as with the accession of more entrepreneurs to the Chamber. Recall that we welcomed four new companies as members of the Chamber.

Our plan for 2020 assumes first and foremost an active role for the Chamber’s members and the deepening of the Chamber’s significance on the Polish and Luxembourg markets.

The priority objectives of the Chamber will be to represent the interests of Polish and Luxembourg entrepreneurs in legislative actions and on the forum of business environment organizations. Therefore, already at the beginning of the year we are joining the Polish Chamber of Commerce. Membership in the KIG will allow us to present your opinions and positions on the proposed legislation, participate in research projects on the economic aspects of business. It will also contribute to strengthening the position of the Chamber and its members on the national and international market.

In the following months, we will develop a network of institutions cooperating with the Chamber, so that in each larger Polish city our members can participate in events that are important to them.

An important event will be an economic mission of Polish entrepreneurs to Luxembourg planned for May 2020. It includes meetings with the authorities of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce and b2b talks. Preparations for this event are already underway. Additionally, talks are held with Poznan University of Technology regarding a conference on IT research and a series of meetings with important figures from business, politics and culture. In March we plan to prepare a conference on urban development. We will inform you in advance about the possibilities of participation in individual events.

Of course, we will not stop working to expand contacts and deepen relationships among Chamber members. For the second half of the year, we plan to expand the website with a section available only to Chamber members. Internal intranet will allow the publication of materials available only to members of the Chamber and free communication between members. At the same time, the Chamber will promote the offer of member companies, launching a kind of database of offers and mediating, as far as possible, in establishing direct business contacts.

We believe that 2020 will be a year of prosperity and interesting events for us. We are open to ideas, proposals. We count on your support and involvement in the work of the Chamber.

Best regards,

Krzysztof Bramorski
President of the Chamber Board
