POLAND | STENA CIRCULAR ECONOMY AWARD – Closed-cycle Economy Leader Competition

Activities in line with the idea of a circular economy (CFE) are increasingly a priority for companies representing various categories of enterprises, from multinational corporations to local startups. The growing interest in circular economy solutions is both an expression of the desire to meet legal and consumer requirements as well as an acceptance of responsibility towards society and the environment.

GOZ provides a number of benefits including efficient use of materials, reduction of waste and its impact on the environment, innovative business models, new jobs and building a competitive advantage.

For Stena Recycling, which since the beginning of its activity cares about the environment and natural resources, this is a confirmation that the competition “STENA CIRCULAR ECONOMY AWARD – Closed-cycle Economy Leader” initiated two years ago, fulfills its educational role.

We invite you to take part in the 3rd edition of the “STENA CIRCULAR ECONOMY AWARD – Closed Circuit Economy Leader” competition of companies associated in the Chamber.

The competition, addressed to business and academia, rewards solutions based on a business model compatible with GOZ and activities to promote the idea of GOZ. Two previous editions of the competition met with great interest from companies of all categories, from globally known corporations to start-ups.

This is evidenced by the growing number of applications and their high substantive value each year. Last year’s winners included Signify Poland Branch in Kętrzyn (Phillips) with the project “Pacific LED – Circular Economy ready luminaire”, IKEA Retail with the project “Przyda się” (It will come in handy) and KOKO World with the project “Fashion for Circular Economy”.

How to participate?

Participants can enter in three categories:

  • for companies that have implemented GOZ practices,
  • for companies that have implemented measures to promote GOZ,
  • for students who will propose a GOZ implementation useful for business or a social action promoting the idea of GOZ.

Entries will be accepted until January 31, 2020, and winners will be announced in April 2020 at a gala to conclude the third edition of the competition.

The prize for the winning companies is the opportunity to choose from Stena Recycling’s offer of environmental services or training, such as environmental audit, eco-education plan, environmental training or hazardous waste transport. Winners in the student category will receive laptops and a grant of PLN 10,000 to implement an educational project in the field of GOZ. Companies and universities will also be awarded a certificate of good practice.
